Quiet Shifts — Gathering, Holding and Crossing

These three works form a series.

They began with fabrics whose colors and shapes suggested movement, relationships and changing directions.

I wanted each composition to stand independently, but also to belong to a larger conversation.

The titles came from the feelings I associated with the arrangements: gathering something together, holding it for a moment and then crossing into something new.

The stitching is deliberately restrained.

For me, these works represent an important change in my approach. I was learning to let the composition exist without feeling that I needed to fill every space.
